What the job involves
Bendigo is gum-tree country, and eucalypts shed leaves, strips of bark and gum nuts all year, with a big drop through the hot months. It all ends up in gutters, where it packs down into a wet, heavy sludge that blocks downpipes, overflows in a storm and sits there as dry fuel through summer.
We clean single-storey gutters from a ladder at the gutter line, using a stand-off so the ladder doesn't rest on the gutter itself. We move along the whole run, scooping leaves and sludge out by hand into buckets and bags rather than blowing it all over your garden, paths and windows.
Once a section is clear we flush it with a hose and watch the water to make sure it falls towards the downpipe and drains away. If water pools or a downpipe is slow, we clear what we can reach at the top of the downpipe and tell you about anything that needs more work.
Before we pack up we sweep or rake up anything that dropped, and load the bags onto the trailer. You get before and after photos of the gutters so you can see the result without getting up a ladder yourself.
How it works, step by step
-
Send us the details
Tell us roughly how big the house is, whether it's all one level, and when the gutters were last done. A photo of each side of the house helps a lot.
-
Price and booking
We confirm it's a single-storey job we can reach safely, give you a price for the whole house, and book a dry day.
-
Clean and flush
We work around the house from the ladder, scoop out the debris by hand, then flush each run and check it drains to the downpipe.
-
Clean up and report
Debris bagged and taken away, the ground tidied, and photos sent, plus a note about anything we noticed, such as a sagging bracket or a rusted section.

How pricing works
Gutter cleaning is quoted per house, as a fixed price for the whole job. What changes the price is the total length of gutter, how full it is (a few months of leaves or a few years of sludge), how many downpipes there are, and how easy it is to set a ladder safely all the way around. Steep ground, garden beds hard against the walls or a crowded side passage all add time.
A house that's cleaned regularly costs less each time than one that's been left for years, simply because there's less to scoop out. We confirm the price before we start, and it doesn't change unless you ask us to add something.
What we don't do
- Two-storey homes, split-level upper sections or anything we can't reach safely from a ladder on the ground
- We never walk on or work from the roof itself, and we don't do roof repairs or roof cleaning
- Plumbing work, including blocked stormwater drains below ground
- Gutter guard installation or repairs
Common questions
Do you clean two-storey gutters?
No. We only clean single-storey homes, working from a ladder on the ground. Two-storey gutters need access equipment we don't use, and we'd rather tell you that up front than take a risk on your house or ourselves.
Will you need to get up on the roof?
No. Everything is done from a ladder at the gutter line, with a stand-off so the ladder doesn't press on the gutter. Nobody walks on your roof.
How often should gutters be cleaned around Bendigo?
Most homes with gum trees nearby need it at least once a year, ideally in spring before the fire season. Houses right under big trees often need a second clean in autumn, before the winter rain.
Why does it matter before summer?
Dry leaves sitting in a gutter are fine fuel for embers. The CFA lists clearing gutters of leaves, twigs and rubbish as part of preparing a property for fire season, along with keeping grass short and clearing leaf litter around the house.
Can you tell me if my downpipes are working?
Yes, as far as we can see from above. We flush each gutter and watch the water drain away. If a downpipe is blocked underground in the stormwater pipe, that's a job for a plumber, not us, and we'll let you know.
Do I need to be home?
Not usually. As long as we can get all the way around the house, we can do the work and send you photos afterwards. Just let us know about dogs, locked side gates or anything fragile under the eaves.
