Working in Greater Bendigo
Greater Bendigo is a big, varied patch. Close to the city centre, in Bendigo itself, Golden Square, Flora Hill and Kennington, blocks are mostly established houses with a lawn front and back, mature trees, and the odd narrow side passage that only fits a push mower. Further out, in Strathfieldsaye, Epsom, Huntly and Maiden Gully, blocks get bigger and lawns get longer. Around Junortoun and Spring Gully, plenty of blocks back onto bushland.
That spread shapes the work. Inner suburbs tend to want a reliable mowing round and a hand with hedges and beds. The outer suburbs are where fire-season clean-ups and slashing come in. Gum trees everywhere mean gutters fill up faster than people expect.
Fire season in the City of Greater Bendigo
The City runs its fire prevention program every year from October to February, and inspections start in early to mid-October. If a fire prevention notice arrives, it will say what needs cutting or clearing and by when. Owners usually get about three weeks to comply. Send us a photo of the notice with your enquiry and we'll quote to match it.
Green waste around Bendigo
Every Greater Bendigo household with a lime-green-lid organics bin can put grass, leaves and smaller prunings in it each week. Bigger piles go to the City's Eaglehawk Landfill, which is where our trailer loads of garden waste end up.
The weather we work with
Bendigo averages around 515 mm of rain a year, mostly in winter, with hot, dry summers and frosty mornings from May to September. Spring is the busiest time for lawns by a long way, so it pays to get onto a regular round early.
